An Ounce of Prevention

Fixing teeth is part of any dental practice, but prevention is the goal at The Pediatric Dental Center. Our friendly staff has discovered many motivating ways to encourage your children to brush, floss and eat the right foods.

Our website offers a wealth of resources for parents as well as games for kids. The earlier we begin seeing your child, the more problems we can help avoid in the future. They will be
thanking you 20 years from now!

Orthodontic Appliances For Less

At The Pediatric Dental Center, we have full-time expert staff making precision appliances for kids every day — They even get to choose their own color! Because we make our own retainers, removable orthodontic appliances and molds here in Coeur d' Alene, our patients realize significant savings, making items like retainers and braces much more affordable than in the past.

Laser Technology

Our office is proud to provide laser dentistry! In the hands of our trained dentists, the Waterlase MD is a safe medical device that has many advantages for our patients. This laser technology uses a combination of water and energy to comfortably perform a wide range of dental procedures— often without needles or numbness!

Since there is no heat, vibration or pressure to the tooth, the need for local anesthesia is reduced. This also means that kids won’t bite their lip and can eat right away after the procedure. Ask us for more information and if laser dentistry is an option for your child’s next treatment!

Digital X-rays

X-rays are one of the most valuable tools a dentist has for diagnosing problems in the teeth and jaws. Not all issues can be detected by a visual examination alone. Especially in children, X-rays are used to monitor tooth growth and development as well as decay—helping us to keep their mouth and teeth healthy all along the way.

Digital radiographs are one of the newest X-ray techniques around and will become the standard for the future! Our office is proud to provide this technology to our patients. Instead of using a traditional dark room, the images are sent electronically to a computer where it can then be easily viewed, stored, sent or printed. This technology and software produces much higher quality images, 90% less radiation and can be more comfortable for the patient than traditional films.

Financial Policy / Dental Insurance

We believe that our fees are reasonable and customary to those charged by most pediatric dentists. In order to hold down our costs and keep prices affordable, we do request payment at the time services are rendered. Our office accepts a variety of payments: cash, personal check, or credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, Amex). A 10% discount is offered for payment with cash or check and 5% for credit or debit cards for those without insurance. Please be aware that the parent bringing the child to our office is responsible for payment of all charges. We cannot send statements to other persons.

We also accept most dental insurance. Our office keeps abreast of the latest insurance trends to help you maximize your insurance benefits. We can pre-authorize treatment plans and will also prepare and file your claim.

However, our office has no direct contract with your insurance carrier. Therefore we ask that you pay your deductible, co-payment, and non-covered portions at the time of your visit. If your insurance company fails to pay our office, then you are responsible for the balance. Interest will be charged on balances greater than 90 days.

Care Credit
We offer no interest payment plans through the Care Credit program, please ask for details...or visit their website at carecredit.com to learn more and apply.

Why Choose Our Office?

Dr. John has completed two additional years of post-doctoral training, beyond the general dentistry degree, in the diagnosis and treatment of pediatric dental disease and dental problems specific to children and adolescents. This training includes special education in hospital dentistry and the treatment of the medically and physically compromised child. Their studies also included child psychology so they can understand children's needs from a well informed perspective. Pediatric dentists stay informed of the most recent advances in dental procedures for children.

Baby Teeth Through Permanent Teeth

Pediatric dentistry has become a very important specialty. The dental care your children receive today will affect their health and appearance forever. We can begin as early as one year.

State of the Art Facility

Of course, TV's are nice but the really big investments at Pediatric Dental Center are in the things you won't see.

This state of the art facility has almost as many dials as smiles.

We provide the most sophisticated dental instruments, in house laboratory products, and advanced fabrication equipment including laser technology, digital x rays, and mercury free fillings. Every resource available has been utilized to provide the highest quality dental care for children in the Pacific Northwest.

Recall Program

Preventive dentistry's foundation is built on a good recall program. Patients enrolled in our practice will be placed on a recall program customized to the patient's needs. Often children with significant problems need to be seen on a more frequent basis than those with minimal needs. The majority of our patients will be seen on a 6 month basis.
